My first pot, was terrible. He collapsed on attempt one, and I reformed him into a vaguely centered lump (I would not recommend doing this), and reformed him anyway, and somehow he survived. He was also the first I ever glazed - which went remarkably well, and what got me hooked. The magic of the kiln. What looks like a mess goes in, and vibrant, earthly colours come out.

After that, I threw my first bowl, teeny tiny. Another glaze attempt, which worked out less well than my first. The colours don't quite go, and you can see 5 finger marks where I was holding it in the cherry glaze on the outside. But we are very proud of him!

Furthering my glaze experiments came with my first 'substantial pot' and my first round form. The first, I bravely attempted a flux glaze on the outside, the second, painted different blues in a painterly fashion, and dipped in a thin green glaze. The result for both were surprising and quite remarkable.

Experimenting with carving also started with a little under the sea themed round vase, then I started throwing bigger, and threw a couple of large bowls. The first was an experiment with scraffito, and the second was a very carefully constructed yarn bowl. The yarn bowl is the inspiration for this website. I have never created something I was so proud of, and hope to continue making and experimenting for a while to come.
